The Rich
Mountain
Battlefield Foundation

Welcomes you to Randolph County, West Virginia for a seminar and tour symposium focusing on the mountain battles of the Summer of 1861. This will be an exciting examination of West(ern) Virginia’s role in the early war, and a look into a “road less traveled” in the history of the American Civil War.

The Civil War burst into flame in many places, but the first campaign of greater strategic consequence started with the movement of Union Soldiers to protect the B&O Railroad. It ended with established Federal control of  western Virginia and General McClellan in charge of all of the Union armies.

Come visit Rich Mountain, Philippi, Laurel Hill, Cheat Summit, and the other historic sites of this uniquely significant campaign in the company of some of those who know them best.

We are proud to host Dr. James Robertson as our keynote speaker. Nationally known for his great knowledge of and dedication to Civil War history, Dr. Robertson will give the featured presentation for the Saturday evening banquet.
